The sandstone rocks of the Kokořín region formed the time and modeled on them by the human hand guided by the natural shapes of the stone, awakening the imagination of the creator or hand guided by simple fervent piety. And so in us some places cause concern, come alive with fearsome stories, and elsewhere we can rest in silent prayer by rock reliefs, crosses and under the trees and the sky. While one of us offers comfortable mansions (Mělník, Veltrusy, Nelahozeves, Liběchov), the second, more rugged and romantic one, will take us to the rock castles, guard places and the majestic Kokořín Castle, from where it is close to Houska Castle, supporting the points of Mácha region. Here we can also find refuge in one of the picturesque villages with preserved folk architecture.
